Retirement courses that are really about designing how you will spend the second fifty years
I'm excited that I'm about to start one of their retirement courses with a group called 2young2retire.Their topics are really about designing how you will live for the second fifty years.
The format seems casual and relaxed, with everyone participating.
We'll be getting together for six evenings and each meeting starts with dinner.
What a great way to enjoy a course while we learn!
Here's what the brochure promises:
Course topics
Boomer myths and truths This evening will cover the first steps in making a transition in our lives. We'll assess ourselves and our personalities. Then we'll learn how to build a road map based on our strengths.
Financial planning for retirement Financial planning for retirement will have us looking at how much we have, how much is enough, and the essentials such as wills, estate planning, and power of attorney.
Health and Wellness We'll examine the aging process, fitness, eating well, and caring for aging parents.
Giving back to the community This topic will have us looking at how to make a contribution, travel and volunteering, hobbies and community participation.
Transition from careers We'll spend an evening looking at the transition from full time employment to other choices. Many boomers want to continue some form of work, whether full time, part-time or self-employed.
Life-long learning The last evening will have us looking at life-long learning, and how to create networking maps and opportunities as we make the transition to a new stage of life.
Each session will be led by qualified speakers.
I'm looking forward to it, and you can be sure I'll be writing about this and other similar courses on this website.
