Which one on the list of retirement hobby ideas delivers five fantastic advantages?

This idea is at the very top of my personal list of retirement hobby ideas. I think it is simple but super. Here it is:

I'm talking about a category of hobbies that are fun in themselves, as hobbies should be.

But they also put you in touch with a whole community of people out there.

People who share your enthusiasms, people you can link up with at home, or find when you travel.

In the second fifty years there are extra benefits to these hobbies. It's great to be adding people to your circle of acquaintances or friends. It's great to know that you can go overseas and find someone who thinks like you do.

And it's especially great if you are solo at this time in your life.

Join a Literary Society

What a thrilling experience I had with the Literary Society I joined.

Along with other members of the Anthony Powell Society, I ended up having afternoon tea in the author's home near Bath, England.

We enjoyed tea hosted by the family and a stroll through the grounds.
