I found a great baby boomers retirement business

It happened almost by accident.

I wanted to try out building a small website of my own, so I was poking around the internet looking for a website host.

It got to be quite a research project. Well frankly it got to be quite a pain, trying to compare the different web hosting packages out there - almost like the pain it is today trying to pick the perfect cell phone package!

But eventually I stumbled upon Site Build It (SBI for short). They did all the comparing for me in their nifty chart. The checklist shows that all the items you need for a website are included in their package. Many or most of these items are add-ons you have to pay extra for with other web hosting packages.

So I decided to invest in an SBI package to get my website on the road.

My original plan was to build a hobby site, not a baby boomers retirement business
My plan was to start by building just a hobby website about dinner party planning. I decided on dinner party planning because I enjoy having people for dinner. So why not work on something I enjoyed?

To tell the truth, I wasn’t convinced that I could make money at a hobby site like this.

But once I started reading posts from the super-helpful people on the Site Build It forums I saw the light. I realized it could be more than a hobby site.

Much to my delight, this little hobby website did grow to become a moneymaker – not a lot of money but more than enough to pay its expenses and a little to tuck into my travel fund.

Once I saw how simple it really was to build a website business (it was work, but it was fun to work at!) I realized I really could kickstart my retirement planning by starting to build another website or two while I was still working. Now it’s a key part of my retirement planning.

Work at home, on the beach, with your laptop in the back yard, or at the cottage – now that’s my idea of real freedom 55! Or 65, or whatever your age.

Especially if it means you are working on something you enjoy, maybe a longtime passion of yours.

This looks to me like a perfect baby boomers retirement business, so I’m going ahead with my retirement plan to start several websites.

This time I'm working with a family member too.
